Frequently Asked Questions

Hiring a skip for the first time may seem complicated but Benfleet Waste are here to make the process easy. There are lots of questions we get asked many times over, so to help you we have listed most of the common ones below.

If your question has not been answered please contact our office and they will be happy to help you 01268 792494.

1. What skip size do I need?

Please see our size guide which gives you an indication to the sizes of skips we offer. Our current sizes available are 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 yard skips and 20, 30 and 40 yard skips (roll on roll offs).

2. Do I need a skip permit to place the skip onto the public highway?

If the skip has to placed on the public highway then yes you will need a skip permit. If the permit cannot be obtained and no private land is available then we do offer a wait and load service . Please see our chart for boroughs covered and charges.

3. How do I pay?

We are happy to accept most forms of debit or credit card over the phone or you can pay the driver cash on delivery. All skips need to be paid for on delivery.

4. What items can I NOT put in the skip?

If you are worried about something that you want to dispose of please call us first as we are happy to recycle most items but we are unable to take asbestos, tyres, fridge freezers, acids, gas bottles and toxics. We will however be happy to advise you on where you can dispose of any of these items safe and legally.

5. How long can I keep the skip for?

You can keep the skip for 2 weeks, if you require the skip longer please call 01268 792494.

6. How much can I put in the skip?

You can fill the skip to the level but no-more some customers like to use boards to make the skips bigger but with Benfleet you don’t need to just order a bigger skip! Overloaded or dangerously loaded skips will not be taken and charged as an overload, so if it looks like you will need another skip call and we will arrange another skip.
